Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 yellow onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 28 oz. peeled tomatoes (in can)
- 16 oz unsalted tomato sauce
- 1 tsp tomato paste (optional)
- 1 tsp dried oregano OR 1 Tbsp fresh oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil OR 1 Tbsp fresh basil
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp kosher salt

- Large pot
- Kitchen scissors
Directions
- Sauté garlic and onion in olive oil over medium-high heat until fragrant and translucent (2-3 minutes). Meanwhile, with kitchen scissors, cut peeled tomatoes in can (or, can wait until in pot if easier) until in small, manageable pieces (can leave larger if making for pasta).
- Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, uncovered. Reduce heat and simmer on low to medium-low heat for 45 minutes.
